Take That First Step

In all my years as an entrepreneur and business owner, one of the key things that I feel is so important and something that I go back to time and time again is the simple art of taking the first step!

I am a very creative person and my mind is firing ideas and creativity all day (and night πŸ™‚ ) long!Β  None of this matters unless you apply it and it is something I have struggled with for years…. too many ideas and not enough focus.Β  However, I have been able to change this for the better simply by ‘doing something’ which is similar to a first step.

For example, I recently started this business blog. That was a first step. I thought about how I have so much experience in all kinds of business and how I love to share and help people with what I have learned over the years, so I thought hey why not blog about it? And I took the step and started the blog.

The best time to feed an idea is when it’s born. πŸ™‚ Then it starts to grow on its own and will expand and adapt as one goes along. The other key after taking a first step are taking small steps like I am doing… trying to write a blog post here every other day or so. It’s not that I don’t want to, or for lack of content or commitment, but more so time… there is only so much time in a day, but because I took that first step I’m in the game. πŸ™‚

Now it’s baby steps, putting one foot in front on the other until I will be up and running and off to my next first step.

What about you? Is it time to take the first step on something? Another way to look at is “taking the plunge”…. take the plunge and let the details work themselves out as you go along. So often we analysis everything to death and it stops us in our tracks. Successful people take plunges and get things done. πŸ™‚

A Tip from a Landlord in Cold Temps

I was reflecting today on how I have been a landlady since I was about 20 years old and have now accumulated 30 plus years of experience.Β  Wow.Β  I was impressed with myself when I realized how young I was when I started πŸ™‚Β  In the 30 plus years I have had to take care of various issues, and itΒ got me thinking about things that I have learned along the wayΒ  that I can share that might be helpful to others.

Yesterday, Canada was the coldest spot in the entire world. Geraldton, Ontario hit -51!!! One of the things that has been coming up aΒ  lot lately, while wearing my landlady hat in these frigid temps, is freezing pipes and water issues.Β  So today’s tip from me is for everyone. Whether you are a home owner, a landperson (correct term?) lol, or a tenant, everyone needs to know this:

In your home or residence make sure you know where to shut off your main water that goes into the house as well as the shut off valve on your hot water tank.Β  There are also individual shut offs under sinks and such which are good to know, but knowing where the two main ones are are the most important!

water valve

When a pipe breaks or there is a leak, one does not have time to think and figure these things out. πŸ™‚

Being prepared is the best way to circumvent disaster and costly repercussions.

I hope you found this helpful and I look forward to sharing more useful information to empower others on life’s journey.

Business is Seed Planting

Life and Business are about planting seeds. Whether you are birthing a new idea, making a post on your Facebook page, or writing a blog post, you are planting seeds!

What is a seed?  A seed of any kind is unit of reproduction, capable of developing into another such plant/offspring.

What Kind of Seeds To Plant?

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒔𝒕 π’Œπ’Šπ’π’…π’” 𝒐𝒇 𝒔𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒔 π’šπ’π’– π’˜π’‚π’π’• 𝒕𝒐 π’ˆπ’“π’π’˜!!!

What are you looking to achieve in your business? Increased profits? Better revenues? More customer share? Added value?  No matter what you are looking to achieve, always plant seeds of value. Be and offer value to your current clients and customers and future clients and customers.

I personally add my own sprinkle of fertilizer in my seed planting and that is a sprinkling of servitude. No matter what I do, writing this blog post for example, I do it with an attitude of serving the world. I want to make a difference. I want to help people. I want to empower others and help them in their life and business. At the same time I am indeed planting seeds that may one day bloom.

Seeds that are planted, with value-added, can bloom into many things. New relationships, joint ventures, customers, clients, mentors, colleagues, increased revenues, new ideas, collaboration, support, and the list goes on! It never ends in fact.

So often in business we feel some things are tedious or mundane, like managing a Facebook page or making a blog post, but I challenge you to see the gift in the planting of the seeds. I myself, love managing social media and blogging, but I know many business owners do not. It’s not their JOY and that’s okay. However, every little thing that is done in servitude plants a seed that has the potential to grow into a big ole oak tree or a billion dollar company so all seeds count.

When we look at our tasks at hand as seeds, it does get a bit more encouraging doesn’t it? At least I think so πŸ™‚
